Three Strings are enough

Don´t you think so?

Funk it on 3…

Magnum Coltrane Price from Nils Landgren's Funk Unit was the first to order a three-string from us, back in 2003 ... Meanwhile, we've built a few of those crazy birds. There are indeed bassists who want to concentrate on the very low notes without being distracted by a G string.

Funderbird III

We check the customer´s wish list, and set all design points. Basically, it makes sense that the three-string neck width has four-string dimensions, so the neck does not feel like a broomstick and the sound is fat enough. Of course, you get a big string spacing, and you can really dig in.

A few details: Khaya mahogany body, maple neck with ebony board and jumbo frets. Hipshot tuners, Pyramid Stainless Steel Strings (Low B - E - A), and a high-gloss finish in piano quality. The back of the neck is painted matte black, so the fretting hand can slide effortlessly.

The bridge consists of three individual riders, and the proven FunderBuckers are wound for the trio spacing. Simple passive vol-vol-tone electronics were requested. For the overall dark look, we have chosen an ebony fingerboard, which also gives a bright and snappy sound.

We have opted for the six-way bolt and also located the strap lock here.
In order to get to the gig in one piece, we got a matching flight case made.

Here a “Green Flame” was requested, so we opted for some flamed maple and put on a hi-gloss finish to make it glow in the dark.

Any options you can think of, we can include. XXL scale? Done. Bindings? Got it. Active? Why not. Anything else?

Did I already tell you we can do any color?
