Still searching for your Ultimate Bass Sound?

The HOT WIRE BASS TEAM can help!
We can build the perfect bass for you!

Hello, I am Bert Gerecht, the man behind the Hot Wire Bass. In 1980 I started "Mr. Bassman“, the world´s first bass shop in Frankfurt, Germany. In 1986 I published „German Bass Magazine“. I wrote countless articles and stories in various music magazines and became a label manager and record producer in 1989, releasing “Bass Talk!“ and some 45 bass-heavy CDs by Percy Jones, Jimmie Earl, Jay Tee, Carol Kaye, and many more, on my own label “Hot Wire Records”.

I had become a bass addict in 1968, when I blasted the first low notes on a Höfner bass into the audience. I played countless gigs with various bands, studied music and English. For ten years I butchered my trusty 1969 Fender Precision and eventually founded "Mr. Bassman“ in Frankfurt. Selling basses, doing repairs and building around one hundred "Mr. Bassman" basses from kit parts according to customer requirements.

With Hot Wire Bass, I have realized my idea of the perfect instrument, which I can individually adapt to every customer. Meanwhile, I have reviewed, repaired, played and sold so many different basses of all brands that I often already know what the customer wants during the consultation before it is clear to him. But I would be nothing without my great team!

Ruedi Ziesemann - Builder

I first met Ruedi in 1987, when he presented his "Bass-Chair" at the German Bass Magazine office ... Meanwhile he is the Hot Wire Master-Builder making perfectly playable works of art based on my ideas and my customer´s wishes in his workshop. In his band "The Cakes" he checks them all out live on stage.

Christoph Dolf - Pickup Winder

We have known each other for ages. In 2002 we had the idea for the first Hotwire pickup, the "stacked jazz". Meanwhile, a whole range has emerged, for each requested sound we have the right pickup in stock. Chris transforms our sound ideas into electrical impulses and winds fantastic sounding pickups like the Hotwire Stack, the Motherbucker, the Funderbucker, or the legendary W-Bucker. In his spare time he plays bass ... what else?

John East - Electronics

In 2002, I met John East and was thrilled with his "J-Retro Electronics". That was exactly what the Hot Wire basses needed! I became East Distributor for Germany and most Hot Wire basses have since been equipped with East electronics. Meanwhile, the program has grown a lot - there is a suitable East for each bass. In his workshop in England, famous bassists are constantly visiting - here John is seen with Stanley Clarke.
